Wayne Maurice Richardson, 73, of Browns Flat, New Brunswick, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Monday, December 18, 2017 at the Ridgewood Veterans Wing.
Wayne was a kind, loving man who encouraged all who came across his path. He loved music and shared his gift of music as organist and choir director in all of the churches he attended. He spent his career playing music in several Canadian Armed Forces bands, retiring as Chief of the Stadacona Band in Halifax, NS. He enjoyed retirement in “God’s country”, as he lovingly referred to Browns Flat. He was a man of great faith and his life reflected that in very real and practical ways. Although Christmas is a hard time to lose a loved one, it seems somehow fitting as we gather together to celebrate his life, because Dad’s Christmas wish each year was always just to have the family together.
Wayne was extremely proud of his three daughters and blessed to have such wonderful sons-in-law: Shelly Tonen and her husband David, of Halifax; Debbie Richardson-Connors and her husband Sean, of Fredericton; and Becky Stockford and her husband Brian, of Grand Bay-Westfield. He is also survived by his wife and best friend, Myrna (Raynes) Richardson; his loving sister AnnJoy Burns (Bill) of Browns Flat; his dear grandchildren Baylee, Bryce, Bree, and Emily. Wayne was predeceased by his parents, Gordon and Mina (Lister) Richardson and infant brother, Murray.
Arrangements are entrusted to Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424) where the family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 20, 2017 from 2-4 and 6-8pm. The funeral will be held on Thursday, December 21, 2017 at 1:00 pm at Hillcrest Baptist Church, 476 Lancaster Avenue, with a reception to follow. The family wishes to thank the incredible staff at Ridgewood for the exceptional care they gave. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hillcrest Baptist Church in Wayne’s name.
