REGINA (GINA) JORDAN

On Tuesday, September 3, 2013 our much beloved Aunt, sister and friend, Regina (Gina) Jordan went to be with the Lord.  Born Aug 30, 1929, Gina's career as a pilot began with her training at the Fundy Flying Club Saint John in 1954.  She went on to instruct air cadets at CFB Greenwood and later moved to Calgary   to work as a flight instructor with Chinook Flying Service.  She later established Jordan Flight Services, an advanced flight training centre in Calgary.  She trained many of the pilots who went on to work around the world on airlines and in corporate flying.   At age 50 Gina became a Mission Aviation Fellowship missionary pilot, flying missions through Madagascar, Tanzania, Nigeria and the Congo.  Her time and service in Africa was the great joy of her life.

Gina was the daughter of the late Ada and Stanley Jordan of Loch Lomond and beloved sister of Alice Jordan and Edna Miller (Vaughn).  Although she never married or had children she was a much loved “third parent” and strong, guiding presence in the lives of her sister Edna Miller’s six children ...Kathryn, Phyllis, Marilyn, Rebekah, Stanley and John.  Gina's guidance and love has also been very much a part of the lives of her great nieces and nephews.  Gina was an instructor, mentor and dear friend to many Canadian pilots and to her Mission Aviation Fellowship family.  She loved and was much loved in return by her African families during her time with MAF.   Her families around the world all mourn her passing but rejoice that she is at peace in the presence of the Lord.

Funeral arrangements are with Fundy Funeral home on Westmorland Road.  Visitation is on Sunday, September 8th from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m.  The service celebrating Gina's life will be held on Monday, September 9th at 11:00 a.m. at St. John's Stone Church, 87 Carleton Street, Saint John, followed by a reception at the church hall and then interment at Ocean View Memorial Gardens.
