Melba Juanita (Wilcox) King

The death of Melba Juanita King occurred on Monday May 23, 2011 at The St. John & St. Stephen Nursing Home. Born 1918 in Saint John, she was the daughter of the late George and Myrtle (McLaughlin) Wilcox. Melba worked as a clerk for the Territorial Government in the North West Territories for 12 years before returning to Amherst, NS with her husband Murdoch. She and Murdoch loved to travel vacationing in Europe, the Caribbean and the US and they spent their retirement years in Florida. She is survived by her nephews Darryll (Marnie) Wilcox and Brian LeBlanc; nieces Carol (Odeo) Dionne, Charlene Weaver and Anita LeBlanc; several great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Murdoch King, a brother Verdun Wilcox, a brother in infancy and a niece Holly Hamilton.

Arrangements are under the direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road. Saint John (646-2424). By request there will be no visitation or funeral service. Private family interment will be held at St. Joseph’s Cemetery at a later date. Donations in her memory may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
