Kerry Shawn McLellan, loving husband of Kelly (Richardson) McLellan, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 28, 2013 at the QEII Hospital in Halifax. Born 1961 in Saint John he was the son of Annette (Ellsworth) McLellan and the late Robert McLellan. In addition to his father he was predeceased by his brother Brent McLellan.
Kerry received his undergraduate degree of business from UNB Saint John, his Master of Business and PhD of Business from University of Western Ontario. While he had opportunities to pursue life in the corporate world of Toronto, he chose to return to his home province to raise his family and contribute to New Brunswick. Kerry was a successful entrepreneur who was truly committed to his employees. He was an active volunteer, serving on various committees and boards, continually striving to improve the quality of life of his fellow citizens. He was an educator at UNB Saint John and was the Past Chair of the Saint John Regional Hospital Foundation on which he proudly served for 13 years. Kerry loved the outdoors, especially white water rafting with his friends.
He was devoted to his loving wife of 24 years, Kelly and to his sons Nathaniel, Isaac, and Ethan. In addition to his mother Annette he is also survived by his brother Robbie McLellan (Lorna) of Manitoba, Randy McLellan of Saint John and Tara Naida (Paul) of Rothesay; sister-in-law Danielle McLellan (Jimmy) of Grand Bay-Westfield; father and mother-in-law Fraser and Ruth Richardson of Saint John; brother-in-law Kevin Richardson (Kim) of Quispamsis; several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, friends, and colleagues.
Resting at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John (646-2424) with visitations on Monday, December 2, 2013 from 2 to 8 p.m. The funeral service will be held from Rothesay Baptist Church on Tuesday, December 3, 2013 at 2 p.m. A private family interment will take place in Fernhill Cemetery at a later date. Remembrances in memory of Kerry made to the Saint John Regional Hospital Foundation, Valley Christian Academy, or to the charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
