My deepest condolences to Gene's family. I knew Gene through RKYC and we shared some wonderful sailing experiences together. It was always a pleasure to chat with him and get caught up on what he was doing. I will miss him.

My deepest sympathies to Gene's Family and Friends on Gene's passing. Gene was a wonderful caring person and I had the privilege of not only working with Gene but the enjoyment of playing ball and curling with him as well. Dale

I was saddened to learn of Gene's passing in the TJ today. I met Gene at RKYC in 1986 when I purchased his first sailboat Shibumi. Me being a novice, Gene kindly agreed to make the delivery trip up to Gagetown and we became close friends and subsequently greatly enjoyed his many trips to Douglas Harbour and out on the Bay of Fundy with us in the following years. A very special memory is his comradeship in helping deliver our "new" boat Magic from Cape Cod in 1990, and sailing it to the Bay of Chaleur in 1993. Loved by all who had the privilege to enjoy his endless wit and great humour, he will be greatly missed.

Our world has lost a CHAMPION!
I first worked with Gene 45 years ago starting at NBTel. I also boarded with him at 3 different homes and in the last few years shared MANY lunches with him. He was always the same ole Gene.
Gene was not a big man but everybody who knew him looked up to him. He was such a kind, generous and gentle man. He was always on the lookout for any situation where he could help.
And he was a brilliant man. He seemed to have the mind of a computer but there was never a computer that he could not outsmart.
He was so proud of his family. While he had no children of his own, he had several unofficial ones. I heard over and over how smart Paula was; that Anthony was the youngest person who could drive ANY construction vehicle and was the smartest engineer UNB ever had and he has awesome uncles; that his 2 nieces in Ontario were better than the best; how Joan looked out for him; that Pat was so close to him.
BUT WAIT! There were Carolyn, Tanya, Jocelyn and her daughter, Caitlin, and Clint and his son, Lucas: ALL more of his unofficial family who just kept on making him so proud.
AND, you know what? There were many more. Some I heard about and some I didn’t. And some who didn’t even know Gene was involved in their wellbeing.
Gene got to live in a castle these last few years. Now I know Gene was not partial to “organized religion” but I believe Gene is now living in his own castle up there.
As I said, our world lost a champion. But the world of anyone who was involved with Gene is much better. Now WE must pass it all forward.
One of the great privileges of my life is to be able to say that Gene Ramsay was one of my very best friends. Thanks, Gene. Rest now, you sure have earned it.
