On Friday, September 12, 2014, Eugene J. Ramsay passed away at the Saint John Regional Hospital with family by his side. Gene was born in Miramichi, NB., a son of the late Francis and Mary Kathleen (Henry) Ramsay.
He attended MIT and was very proud of this accomplishment. He was employed as an Information Technology Specialist, working for various companies over the span of his career including IBM, Teldata, NB Tel and finally Nortel, retiring in his early 60’s. Gene was an avid sailor and a member of the Royal Kennebecasis Yacht Club in Millidgeville. He had many wonderful sailing adventures over his lifetime with one in particular to the British Virgin Islands. Gene was an intelligent, caring man with an amazing sense of humor. He will be fondly remembered.
He is survived by his only sister Joan Ferguson; sister-in-law Marie Ramsay; special nieces and nephews Paula, John (Trish), Kelly (John) and Terri (Sean); great nieces and nephews Anthony, Caroline, Joey and Charlotte and his “chosen family” The Carriers, Tanya (Brent), Jocelyn (Andrew), Clint (Liz) and Lucas.
Along with his parents, Gene was predeceased by his brother Donald; brother-in-law Reg and his ex-wife Pam, earlier in life.
Arrangements entrusted to Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424) with a memorial gathering celebrating Gene’s life taking place Tuesday, September 16, 2014 from 11 am to 1 pm at the funeral home. A private family committal will take place at a later date in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Donations in memory of Gene may be placed to the Loch Lomond Villa Foundation, Romero House, Duck’s Unlimited or the charity of the donors’ choice.
