FLOWER, C. GERALD (Gerry)
It is with the deepest sorrow, we announce the passing of Gerry Flower at the Saint John Regional Hospital on June 12, 2011, following his recent illness. Born (January 9th 1926) & raised in Saint John, Gerry was the son of the late Murray & Ethel (Morrow) Flower.
Gerry leaves behind: his best friend & loving wife of 54 years, Irene Lyle (Cameron) Flower, Grand Bay; his sons David (Cheryl), New Maryland, Jamie (Carol), Quispamsis, & daughter Jan Stanford (Andrew), Quispamsis; eight grandchildren Megan & Erin Flower, New Maryland, Krista, Kaitlin & Daniel Flower, Quispamsis & Mark, Scott, & Peter Stanford, Quispamsis; one sister Glenys “Glen” Flower & special friend Pam Prince, Perth Andover, and several nieces & nephews. All of Gerry’s immediate family is in N.B., which allowed for many get-togethers, sleepovers & the special annual “Christmas on Boxing Day” celebration!
Besides his parents, Gerry was predeceased by his brother Doug and sister-in-law Geraldine (Smith) Flower.
Following graduation from Saint John High School, Gerry attended UNB Fredericton. Upon receiving his Bachelor of Arts he returned to Saint John to work at NB Tel, where he met the love of his life and soon to be bride.
Cottage time was always special for the Flower family, as they enjoyed many years at Belleisle Bay entertaining family & friends.
Gerry has enjoyed 33 years with the “Men of Fundy Barber Shoppers”, singing lead in Quartet & Chorus.
Gerry’s warm smile & twinkle in his eye will be missed greatly by all those who knew and loved him.
The family will receive visitors at the Fundy Funeral Home (230 Westmorland Road, Saint John, N.B. 646-2424) on Tuesday, June 14th from 2-4 & 7-9 PM. There will be a celebration of Gerry’s life on Wednesday, June 15th, 11:00 am at St. Andrew & St. David United Church of Canada (164 Germain St. Saint John) with Rev. John Dunnett officiating. A reception will follow immediately at the church. Interment will take place in Ocean View Memorial Gardens (715 Latimore Lake Road).
For those who wish, memorial tributes made to the Saint John Regional Hospital Palliative Care Unit, Canadian Cancer Society, the Canadian Diabetes Association, St. Andrew & St. David United Church, the Men of Fundy or a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
