Allison H. Sheffar

It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Allison Harold Sheffar which occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Tuesday, October 1st, 2013.  Born in Saint John, in 1943, he was the son of the late Harold and Jean (Parsons) Sheffar.  Allison was a stationary engineer and was employed with the Lantic Sugar Refinery for 30 years.  He was a lifetime member of the Saint John Branch Navy League of Canada, sponsors of #9 Rodney Sea Cadets.  
Allison will be sadly missed by his loving wife Evelyn who he loved deeply; two wonderful sons Petty Officer 2nd Class Jamie (Jennifer) Sheffar of Duncan, BC and Petty Officer 1st Class Terry (Lisa) Sheffar of Lower Sackville, NS; two beautiful daughters Brenda Sheffar of Saint John and Lt (N) Alyson Sheffar of Saint John; loving grandchildren Johnathon, Abigail, Zachary, Jacob, and Benjamin; brothers Darrell, Brian, Graham and Kevin; sisters Candy Carr and Cathy Douthwright ; 2 maternal aunts Garda Bishop and Beverley Ann Betts; lifelong friend Terry Maguire of Niagara Falls, ON; as well as nieces, nephews and many friends.  
Arrangements are under the direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424) with visitation being held on Thursday, October 3rd from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.  A funeral service will take place at River Cross Baptist Church, 61 Forbes Dr. (formerly Main St. Baptist Church) on Friday, October 4th at 2 p.m. followed by an interment at Greenwood Cemetery where dad will rest close to the Irving Nature Park which he and his wife visited frequently.  In lieu of flowers, donations in Allison’s memory may be made to River Cross Church Building Fund or to the Saint John SPCA.
