Robert McKay Johnston

On Thursday, May 10th,2012, Robert “Bob” Johnston, husband to Phyllis (Brien) Johnston, passed awaypeacefully with family by his side.  Bornin Boston, MA, he was the son of the late Ethel (McKay) Johnston.  Bob was a Marine Traffic Controller withTransport Canada for many years, retiring in 1991.  
He was a member of the Lion’s Club, K.V. Old Boys Club, and the Loyalist City Amateur Radio Club. Bob volunteered for the Marathon By The Sea, MS Walks and various other charity events. He belonged to the MasonicLodge with specific membership in the following orders: The Corinthian Lodge F& AM; Carleton Chapter Royal Arch Masons; Saint John Council Royal &Select Masters; McLeod Moore Conclave, Red Cross of Constantine; New Brunswick Conclave Order of the Secret Monitor; Saint JohnDe Molay Preceptory Knights Templar; Past Officers Assocation of Maine; LuxorTemple Order of the Mystic Shrine; and Knights of the York Cross of Honor.
Bob is survived by:his sons Glynn (Twila Matchett) Johnston, Rothesay, NB, and Robin (Tahimi)Johnston, Ottawa, ON; daughters Gayle Johnston, Fort Mill, SC, andPatti Vadeboncoeur, Winnipeg, MB; grandchildren Joel (Amanda), Adam (Heather),Gary, Nicole, Mark and Luis; greatgrandchild Sean; as well as his cousins Shirley McPhee and Doug McKay.  Arrangements entrusted to Fundy Funeral Home,230 Westmorland Road, Saint John, NB, (646-2424).  As per Bob’s wishes, there will be no visitation.  A private memorial service will be held at a later date with a committal in Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery.  Donations in Bob's memory would be appreciated to the charity of the donor’s choice.
