Reg Martin

It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Joseph Reginald “Reg” Martin which occurred at Ridgewood Veterans Wing on Thursday, March 26th, 2015.  Born 1924, in Rustico, PEI, he was the son of the late Russell and Madeline (Peters) Martin.  Reg worked for Massey Ferguson as a Moulder for over 25 years in Brantford, ON.  He then returned to the East Coast to live and fulfill his dream of owning his own farm.  He served in World War II and was a Veteran of the Royal Canadian Navy. Last year Reg was awarded the “Knight of the Legion of Honor” from France. 

Reg is survived by his loving wife Noreen (Porter) of 69 years; sons Gerald (Lynda) of Hampton, NB, Paul (Stephanie) of Grandbay-Westfield, Donald (Michele) of Brantford, ON; brother Gerald (Joan) of Brantford, ON; sisters Leticia Thornton of Mississauga, ON, Margie Winger of Barrie, ON; daughter-in-law Lois of London, ON; grandchildren Christopher, Gregory, Shasta, Jason, Ryan, Bradley; 11 great-grandchildren as well as half brothers and sisters from PEI, several nieces, nephews and friends.  Besides his parents, Reg was predeceased by his son David, brothers Elliott, Pius, David and John and sister Arvella Pineau.

Arrangements are under the direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424).  Following cremation, a Memorial Service will take place from the Fundy Funeral Home chapel on Tuesday, March 31st, 2015 at 1 p.m. beginning with a Tribute to a Veteran Service.  Interment will take place at Black River Cemetery in Miramichi at a later date.  Donations in memory of Reg may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.  A special thanks to the staff of Ridgewood Veterans Wing for their superior care.
