Welcome to the memorial page for

Myrna G. Pearson

August 24, 1941 ~ May 22, 2012 (age 70) 70 Years Old
It is with sadness that we announce the death of Myrna (Livingston) Pearson, age 70 at Bobby’s Hospice on Tuesday, May 22, 2012 after a two year battle with cancer.
Myrna was born in Saint John, NB where she lived most of her life.  She was a graduate of Simonds Regional High School (Class of 1960) and had a successful career in finance.  For over thirty years, she was a well known and respected bank employee, working for several banking institutions and their branches throughout the city.  Through her work Myrna met and developed many friendships with people of all ages and from all walks of life.  Her competence, her warmth, and her genuine interest and concern for others became her trademark in her profession, as well as socially.  She had a natural ability to make everyone feel special, and anyone who knew her loved that about her.
From a very early age, Myrna was a devoted animal lover. For many years, she bred and showed dogs, traveling throughout the Maritimes and eastern US to dog shows. Her favorite friend and loyal companion was Bridget, a Doberman, who spent her full 13 years by Myrna’s side.  Her last canine friend, a German Pinscher named Charlie, brought her daily challenges but also companionship and laughter.
Myrna loved to travel, and enjoyed her many RV vacations throughout Canada and the US, delighting in the opportunities and learning brought by the new experiences, people, food and cultures.  Myrna’s respect for diversity, her ability to empathize, and her commitment to personal growth allowed her the gift of new friends as she traveled throughout the two countries.
At a very young age Myrna developed an unbounded love of reading.  Each new book brought an excitement.  It was not, however, until her retirement in 2003 that she was able to devote the time she wanted to this peaceful pursuit.
Another interest she was able to pursue in retirement was an immersion into her Scottish family history, in particular her mother’s geneology and the Irvine immigration to Saint John from the very special “Fair Isle”.
Myrna will always be remembered for her interest in others and her open door, whether it was making a home for needy animals, entertaining old friends, welcoming new ones, making up a room for an unhappy soul, or caring for family.  Also, Myrna was a friend of Bill W and donated the past two decades to mentoring those struggling with addiction.  Today, many women in Saint John attribute their sobriety to the unlimited time Myrna gave them, and to her skill in leading them into recovery.  Among the tributes she has received over the years, the Saint John Volunteer Resource Centre recently recognized her contribution to the Sophia Recovery Centre, and gave her the Volunteer Spirit Award for commitment and passion in this challenging field.
Myrna is survived by her sister Joanne Hughes and brother-in-law Michael of Quispamsis; niece Kelly (Sean) MacDonald, and their daughter Brooke of Rothesay; and several cousins. Myrna was Kelly’s very special aunt who offered time, travel, a second home, and unconditional love.  Myrna considered herself blessed to remain an important part of Kelly’s life throughout the years, sharing in the joys of Kelly’s marriage and parenthood.
Myrna was predeceased by her parents Percy and Genevieve (Irvine) Livingston of Saint John.
