Marie "Nanny" Theresa (Fisher) Poole

Marie Theresa (Fisher) “Nanny” Poole passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, December 28, 2011 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born 1925 in Saint John she was the daughter of the late William Lynch and Josephine (Smith) Fisher. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her siblings Edward Fisher, Kaye Atherton, Jean Fisher, Bernice Evans, Rita Dunphy, Jared Fisher and Mickey Fisher and grandson William Poole. Marie graduated from Saint John Vocational School in 1943 and worked for Cunard Steam Ships Line. She moved to Montreal to raise her family, returning to Saint John in 1969. She was employed as an Administrative Assistant for the Certified General Accountants Association until her retirement.   Marie was a devoted mother, a cherished grandmother and shared a special relationship with her sons-in-law, who enjoyed her humour and wit.
She is survived by her loving children Michael Poole (Sharlet) of Victoria, BC, Andrea Binns of Comox, BC, Sister Pat Poole of Saint John, Beth Peddle (Stephen) of Rothesay and Joan Wilkins (Leonard) of Bayswater; grandchildren Matthew Poole of Victoria, BC, Constable Heather Peddle of Killarney, MB, Tricia Biggins (Doug), Ben Wilkins and Bizzy Wilkins of Saint John; great grandchildren Celty and Keagan Biggins; siblings Eleanor Northway (George) of Rockville, Maryland, Paul Fisher (Fran) of Kamloops, BC, Bill Fisher (Stephanie) of Toronto, ON and Joan Shippel (Warren) of Lindsay, ON; several nieces and nephews.
Following cremation, a Memorial Mass will be celebrated from St. Peter’s Catholic Church, 50 Clarendon Street, Saint John on Saturday December 31, 2011 at 11:00 a.m.  A private family interment will take place in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Donations made to the Palliative Care Unit SJRH or to the charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family. Arrangements are under the care of Fundy Funeral Home, Saint John (646-2424).
