Welcome to the memorial page for

Leonard Leigh Armstrong

January 3, 1942 ~ July 23, 2017 (age 75) 75 Years Old

It is with heavy hearts the family of Leonard Leigh Armstrong, announce his peaceful passing on Sunday, July 23, 2017 surrounded by his loving family at the Saint John Regional Hospital.  Born in St. Martins, NB, on January 3, 1942, he was the loving husband for 56 years to Carol (Hunter) Armstrong and son of the late Alexander Allison Armstrong and Georgie Irene (Verner) Brown.

Leonard was a very hardworking, generous, and outgoing man.  He began working at the young age of 13 and mastered the art of being a ‘Jack of all Trades’, working with his hands, driving truck with Scovil Transfer, working with steel at Saint John Shipbuilding, fixing anything mechanical, coaching hockey with both the East West Suburban Hockey League and Simonds Minor Hockey, racing stock cars, hunting, fishing, and spending time at his camp in Grand Lake.  He did it all!  Leonard was very energetic and would go and go until you made him stop.  Leonard was also a member of Local 1386 United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners. Family was very important to Leonard and spending time with his children and grand-children made him extremely happy. Taken much too soon, Leonard will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

In addition to his wife Carol, he is survived by his son Darryl (Terry) Armstrong, 3 daughters; Cheryl Armstrong, Karen (Jack Long) Moore and Kim (Jim McKinney) Armstrong, 6 grandchildren; Amanda, Natasha, Courtney, Brandon, Colby and Nathan, 7 great grandchildren; Amber, Alyssa, Mikayla, Merrissa, Skyla, Damien and Marilyn, sisters; Marjorie Langille, Cheryl Northrop, Carol (Ernie) Bertin and Linda (John) Thomas, brothers; Edward (Beulah) and Charles Armstrong, and Sterling (Judy), Lloyd (Sharon) and Glendon (Mary Jean) Brown, special friends Kevin and Debbie Hooper, Shannon Shaw and Sterling and Judy Brown, along with several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Along with his parents, Leonard was predeceased by his son Gary Armstrong and sister Geraldine Brown..
