J. Ralph Lawless

Lawless, J. Ralph - J. Ralph Lawless of Gondola Point, passed away peacefully at this home on October 2, 1997. Born in Norbora, P.E.I. son of the late John William and Margaret Ida (Deegan) Lawless; husband to Helen Mary (O'Neill) Lawless. He had retired from Saint John Dry Dock as Supervisor of Office Services after 23 years and had previously been employed at McAvity/Crane for 23 years, a longtime member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help and an Auxiliary Member of the Legion of Mary. As well as a Life Member of the Knights of Columbus, Council # 937, 3rd Degree Knight. He was former President of Thistle Curling Club and a Member of Riverside Golf and Country Club. In addition to his wife is survived by a son; John Francis of Hampton, three daughters, Suzanne Elizabeth and her husband James McCarthy of Gondola Point, Mary Louise Robinson of Fredericton and Barbara Clare of Ottawa, Ontario. A sister, Helen Patricia Owens of Halifax, five grandchildren as well as several cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother Lorne Francis.

Arrangements entrusted to Fundy Funeral Home (646-2424), 230 Westmorland Road. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Rothesay on Saturday October 4th. At 12 Noon, with Father Michael LeBlanc officiating. A reception will be held in the church hall following the Mass for friends and family. Following cremation, interment will take place at St. Joseph's Cemetery with a private family committal at a later date. Friends and family are welcome at Fundy on Friday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. for visitation. For those who wish, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.
