Welcome to the memorial page for

Geneva Mary (Titus) Koester

October 7, 2011
Mary Geneva Koester (nee Titus) was born October 23, 1936 as the first child of local baseball legend Austin (Aukie) Calvin Garnett Titus and Marguerite Titus (nee Velte). She fell asleep in death on October 7, 2011 at the Saint John Regional Hospital.

Known as “Geneva” to most, “Ma” to two, and “Omie” or “Grammie” to her grandchildren, she was extraordinarily kind and generous, always concerned personally with those she knew and loved. Even though she struggled with illnesses in many forms her whole life, her thoughts were always of others.

She made something beautiful of her life in spite of her limitations. As a daughter, she had great love and respect for her parents. She was the best mother she could be, she was an extremely giving sister, she loved her six grandchildren intensely and, most importantly, she knew and loved the true God, Jehovah.

In better times she enjoyed sharing her faith with others; a faith cemented in the ransom sacrifice and subsequent resurrection of Jesus. (Acts 17:31; John 5:28, 29)

In testament to that faith, she knew no time for sadness with respect to her own circumstances. She was particularly fond of the Kingdom Song, “Keep Your Eyes on the Prize” and no wonder - it promises everything she was missing in this world. What a joy it will be in the New World to see her “climb up just as a stag does.” (Isaiah 35:6)

May we all cling to that powerful hope and remember Geneva with a smile, for she is in the safest place she could be – Jehovah God’s memory.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Geneva may be made to the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society of Canada, PO Box 4100, Georgetown, Ontario, L7G 4Y4 or the Saint John Extra Mural Program.
