Jenner, Frank - Born on March 10, 1915; passed away peacefully at the
Ridgewood Veterans Wing on April 28, 2005 in his 91st year, Frank William
Douglas Jenner beloved husband of 62 years and best friend of Marjorie
(Whipple) Jenner of Saint John.
The son of the late Herbert A. Jenner and Alice (Douglas) Jenner, he was
predeceased by his older brother, Herbert (Elaine). He was also predeceased
by his sister in law, Florence Whipple.
Frank proudly served his country in World War II as a Staff Sergeant at the
Saint John Armories and overseas in England, Holland, and Germany with the
Carleton York Regiment of the Canadian Army. Frank and Margie met during
the Second World War and it was love at first sight. They were married in
Saint John 1943.
He worked in Construction business with his father in law, J. Boyd Whipple,
for several years, and later was employed at Thornes Hardware and then for
many years as a Buyer and Department Manager with Manchester Robertson
Allison. Before retiring, he and his wife owned and operated the Kitchen
Korner on German Street.
Frank was a gentle soul, a true gentleman. In his younger years he was
always active in the community serving many organizations. He enjoyed
working with Boys Scouts and loved Curling. He took pleasure in cooking,
music, camping, traveling, and was a fine carpenter. He loved animals, and
the outdoors. Frank was also a dedicated Blue Jay's fan. In his 80th year
he took up painting with watercolours, which brought him much enjoyment.
Besides his wife, Margie, he will be lovingly remembered by his daughter,
Carol, and son, Douglas (Anita). Papa derived great pleasure from his
family including the pride and joy of his life, his five grandchildren,
Alice McGovern (Michael) and Dan Sutton (Melda), Mark, Melissa and Robyn
Jenner. He was a very proud great grandfather of Brandon and Alexis Sutton.
Frank also leaves two brothers in law, Murray Whipple and Kenneth Whipple
and his wife Ann, several nieces and nephews.
We will miss his warmth, wisdom, humour, and caring nature. We are
comforted by our memories and all our good times together.
Warmest thanks to all those who helped us care for him in last days. We are
particularly thankful to caregiver, Gail Richard, for her friendship and
devotion. We are deeply grateful to all the caring staff at Ridgewood
Veterans Wing to their wonderful support. Heartfelt thanks to Reverend John
Martin for his love and kindness to Margie and all the family.
The Royal Canadian Legion will hold a tribute to a Veteran service on Sunday
evening at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
