It is with great sadness the family announce the death of Florence McCaffrey of Saint John who passed away at the Loch Lomond Villa on Saturday May 5, 2012 in her 90th year. Born in Saint John May of 1922 to the late Gordon and Anna (Shannon) McCaskill. Florence worked for the John Howard Society of New Brunswick as an administrative secretary for many years. She was a member of Stella Maris Church and enjoyed swimming, weeding, music, walking and spending time with all of her family.
Florence was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She is survived by daughter Pat Daley (Kevin) of Passekeag, sons Francis James Jr. (Joyce) of Saint John and Michael Joseph (Pat) of Fort McMurray, AB; 10 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends. Besides her parents, Florence was predeceased by her husband Francis J. McCaffrey Sr., son Terry McCaffrey, 4 brothers and 6 sisters.
Resting at the Fundy Funeral Home 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424) with visitation on Monday May 7th from 7-9 p.m. and Tuesday May 8th from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from Stella Maris Catholic Church Bayside Drive on Wednesday May 9th at 12:05 p.m. Private family interment to be held at St. Joseph’s Cemetery at a later date. Donations in Florence’s memory can be made to the Loch Lomond Villa Foundation, Alzheimer’s Society or the charity of the donor’s choice.
