F. Evelyn MacCoubrey

MacCoubrey - Following a brief illness many friends and relatives were saddened by the death of Mrs. F. Evelyn (Green) MacCoubrey, whose death occurred on Friday, October 29, 1999 at the Passamaquoddy Lodge in St. Andrew's. She is the last surviving member of here immediate family. Born in Saint John she was the daughter of the late George Hartley and Florence (Chipman) Pyne Green. Prior to her moving to St. Andrew's she had lived her entire life at 159 Queen Street West. She attended LaTour, New Albert and Saint John High School. She graduated from the Saint John General Hospital as a Registered Nurse in 1935. She worked at the hospital for a few years, also did private duty. She attended the University of Western Ontario, specializing in psychiatry and after graduating from there she worked at the old D.V.A. Hospital until her retirement in 1976. Evelyn loved music and while in training, she was the soloist and pianist for many of their social functions. She also sang with the Carriden choir for many years. During the war years she helped to entertain the troops stationed in Saint John, She was a member of St. Jude's Church and sang in the choir for many years. She was Chartered Member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Philip A. Jerguson Chapter, #18. She was a member of the Nereides Chapter, Daughters of the Nile. She was especially recognized by the Queen of Nereide =s chapter to perform as soloist for her Queen, Mrs. Shirley Simith in Hawaii in 1967. She will be remembered for her valuable contribution to the Eastern Star and Daughters of the Nile. She married ieut, John L MacCoubrey in 1949, he was killed in an accident shortly after they were married.

She leaves to mourn her death six nieces; five nephews; many grand nieces and grand nephews, and great, great grand nieces and nephews, and dear friend Jerry McLaughlin. She was predeceased by her brothers: Fred, George, Thomas, Corey and Carl Green and sisters: Mary Curll and Grace Green, nephews Harold, Richard, Hartley and Merlyn Green and niece Doris Clements.

Resting at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road the funeral service will be held from St. Jude's Anglican Church on Monday, November 1, 1999 at 2:00 p.m. Interment to take place in Cedar Hill Cemetery Extension. Visiting Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Sunday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Donations to Eastern Star, Daughters of the Nile, Philip A. Jerguson Chapter #18 or St. Jude's Anglican Church Building Fund would be appreciated by the family.
