It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Ensley Allen Hicks which occurred at St. Joseph’s Hospital on Sunday, August 17th, 2014. Born 1944, in Sackville, NB, he was the son of Mona (Allen) and the late Eldon Hicks. Ensley worked as a heavy equipment operator and truck driver. He enjoyed working with old vehicles, attending bluegrass festivals, and playing horseshoes. Ensley was always there to lend a helping hand to anybody in need.
Ensley is survived by his loving wife Marlene (Sears) of 46 years; sons Eldon (Amy) of Saint John, Christopher (Danielle) of Quispamsis; daughters Cindy Dryden (Hibbert) of Grandbay, Melonie of Ottawa; brothers David (June) of Sackville, NB, Glen (Denise) of Halifax; half-brothers Vincent (Margaret) of Saint John, Royal (Margaret) of Sackville, NB, Eldon (Irene) of Centerville, NB; sister Patricia (Leonard) of Sackville, NB; grandchildren Melissa, Jessica, Katherine, Kayla, Brandon, Brittany, Lucas, Joshua, Allyson, Chloe, and Liam; five great-grandchildren as well as several nieces, nephews and friends. Besides his father, Ensley was predeceased by his sister Linda Sears.
Arrangements are under the direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424). Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 21st from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. A private interment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ensley’s memory may be made to the St. Joseph’s Hospital Foundation, Alzhiemer’s Society or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
