Elsie Beatrice Hodges

It is with heavy hearts the family announces the passing of Elsie Beatrice Hodges that occurred unexpectedly on Tuesday January 31, 2017 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born January 10, 1927 in Saint John, she was the daughter of the late Kenneth and Matilda (Rossiter) Chipman.

Elsie was very active, even in her later years often going for walks and golfing. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, watching Nascar and her grandchildren Jillian and Linda competing with horses.

She is survived by her brother Malcolm (Josephine) Chipman; grandchildren Linda Legere-Boudreau (Ludger); great-grandchildren Jordan Legere (Katelyn), Jillian Legere, Rob McCauley (Karen) and their children Robbie- leigh, Anthony, Zachary, Kyle and Katelyn, Kathy Hampton and her children Krista, Samantha and Jeremy, Doug Hampton, Kim Doucette (Paul).

Nieces and nephews, Cathy Chipman, Shelly Chipman, Gary Chipman (Debbie) and their daughter Brittany, Margo Claussen (Paul) and their children Ashley and Christopher, Karen Cosmen (Kenny), Kevin Chipman (Laura) and their child Ryan, Patti Chipman and her daughters Amber and Alicia, Linda Chipman, Debbie Chipman, Donna Beaton (Kevin McCaskel) and her children Jessica, Alex and Emily, Becky Stephen, Wendy Harnden and her children Doug and Taylor, Daniel Stephen and his children Erin, Daniel and Darryl, John Stephen (Sharon) and their children Jason and Robert, Barry Stephen; cousins Jean Wood, Dorothy, Rob, Pat and Dan Waters, Peggy Brown, Shelly, Dorothy (Rob), Roberta Dempster, Tommy Rossiter (Diane), Rob Chipman (Barb), Kevin Chipman (Laura) and their son Ryan, Harold Stephen; several friends and extended family.

Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband Ronald, her daughters Norma Humby and Barbara Young and a brother Ronald Chipman (Barbara).

Following cremation, visitation will be held at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road on Sunday February 5, 2017 from 1-3 p.m. Service and burial to be held in the spring in Nova Scotia. Donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
