The death of Doris Jean Green, wife of the late Frederick Green occurred unexpectedly on Saturday May 2, 2009 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born 1920 in Wells, she was the daughter of the late William and Margaret (Johnston) Madill. Doris served as Fundraising Captain for the Canadian Cancer Society for many years and also served on the Rothesay Living Museum. Known to most as the "Do" of the Dofred, she and her husband co-founded Dofred Developers in 1970. Dodie and her sisters Alice and Glady, were known to their friends and family as the "Golden Girls". Nanny DeeDee will be sadly missed by her great-grandchildren and her little friend Abby. She is survived by her daughter Anita (Douglas) Bush of Rothesay; a daughter-in-law Jane Green of Riverview; a brother Gordon (Nita) Madill of Bridgewater N.S.; sisters Alice Herrington of Rothesay and Gladys McAfee of Saint John; grandchildren, Shelley (Mark), Scott (Mary), Sheryl (Joe), Kimberly (Jamie), Andrew (Jacquelyn); great grandchildren Katelyn, Gareth, Erin, Emily, Morgan, Jayme. Besides her parents and her husband Fred, Doris was predeceased by son Don, brother Charlie and sister Margaret.
