Welcome to the memorial page for

Christine Catherine Duplacey

March 17, 1926 ~ May 20, 2017 (age 91) 91 Years Old

Christine Catherine Duplacey (nee McKinnon), wife of the late Thomas Duplacey, passed away peacefully in her sleep on May 20, 2017 at the Saint John Regional Hospital after a short illness.  Born in Saint John, on March 17, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Elizabeth (Latimore) McKinnon.

She is survived by her only child Harold (Marilyn) of Hampton, brothers Frank McKinnon (Hazel), Richard McKinnon (Helen) of Quispamsis,  grandson Alan (Pam) of Holly MI,  granddaughter Amy (Kevin Richards) of Saint John, her great-grandchildren Thomas and Emma Richards, her sister-in-law Shirley McKinnon, life-long best friend Jean Jamieson of Moncton, and many nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by her brother Harold “Mackie” McKinnon and her sisters Beatrice “Gertie” (Arthur Tingley), Frances (Leo Starkey) and Jean (Archie Starkey).

“Nan” had several careers in her 91 years.  Growing up she was her father’s “right hand man” on the family farm.  She was a nurse’s aid at the Saint John TB Hospital Children’s ward, Odie Brown’s Grocery Store, supervisor/cook at Grant’s Restaurant in Parkway Mall, and cook at the Sisters of Charity Saint Joseph Convent in Saint John.  But Nan’s favourite job was taking care of her “kids”. She was always in the front row cheering the loudest at all of their activities. Nothing made her happier than being with and doing for her family.

She was a dynamo of energy and was game for anything whether it was quilting, knitting, moose hunting or golf and curling which she took up at 60.  She was an avid Saint John Flames and Sea Dogs fan.  Her faith was very important to her and she was involved in the ACW.

The last 3 years of her life she enjoyed living at Riverdale Seniors Residence, Hampton.  She received great care from Krissy Travis and her staff and made many good friends there.  The family would like to thank Dr Brian Craig for his many years of caring for Nan, and Dr. Omotoso and the nursing care on 3CN for her recent excellent care.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John (646-2424) on Tuesday May 23, 2017 from 3-8 PM.  The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at 11:00 AM at St. Mary and St. Bartholomew’s Church, 646 Westmorland Road,  with reception to follow at the Church . Interment will take place at St Paul’s Cemetery, Upper Golden Grove following the reception.  Remembrances made to the Canadian Cancer Society, the NB Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Children’s Wish Foundation would be greatly appreciated.
