Arthur J. McCarthy

It is with great sadness the family announce the death of Arthur J. McCarthy of Saint John, which occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Monday September 5th, 2011 surrounded by his loving family. Born November of 1929 in Saint John son of the late Leo and Agnes (Love) McCarthy. Arthur worked for CAE Morse as a Sales Manager, retiring in 1994. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #937 and St. Ann’s Catholic Church. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, Arthur is survived by sons Peter (Heather) of Langley, BC, Michael of Edmonton, AB, Danny (Tanya) of Hampton and Patrick (Cheryl) of Qusipamsis; daughters Ann of Montreal, QC and Maureen (Bob) Bardsley of Rothesay; sister Rose (Richard) Hatchett of Saint John; grandchildren Ryan, Matthew, Christina, Tyler, Nicholas, Jessica, Travis, Brady, Riley, Nick, John and Patrick; nieces, nephews, friends and Babe. Besides his parents, Arthur was predeceased by his loving wife Rita (Mersereau) in 2004, brother Leonard and sister Kay.

Resting at the Fundy Funeral Home 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424) with visitation on Wednesday September 7 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m,. with a Knights of Columbus prayer service beginning at 7 :00 p.m. and Thursday September 8 from 2-6 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday September 9, 2011 at St. Ann’s Catholic Church ,135 Simpson’s Drive at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Donations in  Arthur’s memory can be made to the Greater Saint John Community Foundation-“Rita McCarthy Fund”, St. Ann’s Church Building Fund or to the Canadian Cancer Society.
