Philomene "Phyllis" M. Gautreau

It is with great sadness that the family of Phyllis (Philomene) Gautreau announces her passing which occurred peacefully at the Loch Lomond Villa Nursing Home September 18, 2017. Born in Rogersville NB September 28, 1923, she was predeceased by her parents Frank and Julie (Robichaud) Richard, her husband Maurice (1984) and sons Donald (1953) and Richard (Rick) 2013.

Phyllis was a kind and loving person who liked to knit, bake, play cards and spend time with her family and friends. She was 60 years of age when she proudly got her driver’s license. After raising her children she worked a brief time at Kmart west and Towers Department Store.  She was a member of Branch 53 Legion for many years as well as an auxiliary member of the Catholic Women’s League of St Pius X Parish. 

Phyllis was a devoted mother to her seven children and a beloved Nanny (Grammy) to her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She had many friends and relatives who enjoyed her wonderful sense of humor, her kindness and generosity.

Phyllis is survived by her children Vincent (Mary) of Saint John, Rita of Saint John, Annette of Saint John,  Paul of Teaswater, Ont.  and Janice (Bill) of Cornhill NB; 11 grandchildren  Lisa Marie, Gary, Janice, Kathy, Miranda, Natalie, Geoff, Lindsay, Terry, Alison and Michael; 14 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother Gerald (Elsie) Richard of Moncton NB, her sister Rita Gould of Magog, PQ along with many nieces and nephews.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424) with visitation being held on Thursday, September 21st from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.  A Funeral Service will take place from the Fundy Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, September 22nd at 11 a.m. followed by an interment at St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Donations in memory of Phyllis can be made to the Alzheimer’s Society, Loch Lomond Villa Foundation or to a charity of the donor’s choice.  Phyllis’s family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the Loch Lomond Villa nurses and staff for their kindness and compassion.
