Vickey, Erin, and James
I'm glad that Darlene and I got a chance to talk with you at the funeral home today. John was such a kind, responsible, and respectful man to everyone that he knew. I can't imagine having a better and more loyal friend. I am going to miss him very much.
John and I have been friends for forty years and a lot of our chats centered around our children and he loved you more than you can possibly imagine. We also liked to talk about our old school friends and our fathers' years on the fire department.
Parents traits have a way of rubbing off on their children, and after talking with you in the last couple of days I noticed that I can see both of your parents in you.
You are wonderful, caring, and polite young people and I know your Dad will always look down and be very proud of you.

As commented in all of these condolences, it is obvious that John was respected, admired and loved by all who worked with him or knew him well. When I encountered John on various occasions around the city, he was always cheerful and positive in our discussions. His Barry grandfather the late Judge John A. Barry and his grandmother Julia (Wilson) Barry had 12 children and 56 grandchildren. I am the eldest but as John reminded me not the only John Barry in our generation, just the oldest.. John's Aunt Geraldine Barry, one of the three remaining of the 12 is unable to attend at 92 plus but sends her condolences as do we.

Very Sad to hear, I alsway enjoyed stopping to chat with John, we would stop to chat about our days back in High School and his dad here on the Fire Dept. Just a great guy to keep in touch with.

This is such sad news. I drove bus with your dad. Your dad was such a sweet genuine person. He had a heart of gold that swelled with pride any time he spoke of you guys. This will be a huge adjustment for you but know that he will always be with you watching over you. My deepest condolences.

Although I have never met you Erin and James your father would speak proudly of you when he and I would meet at family gatherings. Your dad and I are the same age. When we were growing up he would come to visit my family (Will's family) with Graeme, Stephen , James and Noreen every Christmas. Good times! He drove a school bus that picked up students at my school when I first started teaching and was truly loved by the students. He always had a smile and was so kind to each and every one of them. He will be missed.

When I worked in Saint John in the 80's I got to know John which was a fun time.John would talk about being a "Travelling Man"....hope he got his well deserved travels in.Sorry for the loss of John and not getting to see him one more time....RIP John.
