My sincere sympathy to all Burton's family and friends. I was shocked to learn that Burton had left us. I talked to him the Friday just before he left us, to finally get some rest and rejoin his beloved wife. His voice was faint, more than usual, and I asked him to get some rest, because he always wanted to do more and it seemed he was getting weaker. I am sure he will rest in peace, with all the people that had crossed his path and made him such a good and loving person ...

Family;
Especially to let you know that others share your sorrow and hope that time will somehow bring a brighter day tomorrow, with deepest sympathy. I had the pleasure of meeting Burton in 1967 as he was introduced to me by John Waldron, I believe Burton was his best man. I new Burton throughout my career with American Standard and shared many a moment with him during and after the business day. Endurance is one of the most difficult disciplines, but it is the one who endures that the final victory comes, this was Mr. Burton Purcell.

To the family,
We were saddened to read of Mr. Purcell's death. I was so happy to have met up with him a few weeks ago to talk of days gone by when he and my late Dad (Cy) (d. 2004) travelled the country to trade shows, and the like. Perhaps now they'll be able to spend time catching up. Our deepest condolences Tracey and Lisa, may God grant you His peace during this difficult time.
Sincerely, Virginia and husband Bob

Although I have not had the privilege of meeting the family, I have known Burton since 1976 when I returned to public practice. As was mentioned, he had a huge fondness for candy, and any visit from Burton meant a shower of candy throughout the office. We always had a conversation about many things, and I'm sure the world would be a better place if some of his ideas had been used. He was a very keen and articulate man. I never ceased to be amazed at his capacity for work. I am sure his car never cooled down.
Always cheerful, always smiling, and his opening comment (our inside joke, shared with many, I'm sure) when he came in to my office: "Good day, Mr. President", along with a huge smile and a hearty handshake, will stay with me for the rest of my life.
A great loss to the community and to the family; and I extend my sincere condolences to the family on the passing of a unique and fine individual.

To the family of Burton Purcell:
Although you do not know me, I graduated from Voc with Burpee (as we called him) and every time I look at our graduation picture I smile at the fond memories of such a great guy. He entertained us immensely at classes if the teacher was out, from stories of Boyle's Hardware to all about his beloved Fairville. Sincere sympathy at this sad time. NORMA

My deepest sympathy to the family in the loss of Burton.
As an elder at Grace Presbyterian Church, I had the pleasure
to speak with him at church, although he could not speak back to me. He always
had a smile on his face. I last spoke to him a week ago Sunday in Church.
I will miss him.

Tracey and Lisa

I just want to say how sorry I am to hear about your dad. I have always admired the relationship you have had with your dad. I know you wouldn't have changed a single thing, your time spent with your dad was always so genuine and he loved every minute he was with you. It is always hard losing someone but the great thing is you have so many wonderful memories to hold on to.

Lots of love to you both
