Burton Leroy Purcell

 Burton Leroy Purcell of Shannex Parkland, Milledgeville, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday May 21st, 2016 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Fairville, NB, November of 1930, he was the youngest son of the late William and Emma (McIntyre) Purcell. Burton was a graduate of Saint John Vocational School, and had a successful career in sales as a Manufacturers Agent. He was a man on the move. With no plans for retirement; he continued to work. Although Burton loved a good hotdog and his candy, the love of his life was his wife Marie, and his pride and joy were his girls. He was a loving and devoted husband and father. He enjoyed traveling, spending precious time with family, playing golf and pool and socializing over coffee with friends.

Burton is survived by his daughters Lisa Purcell (David Condon) of Bonshaw, PEI and Tracey Purcell of Halifax, NS; brother Charles of Saint John; sisters Phyllis Clark of Sussex and Connie Lockhart of Saint John; nieces, nephews; close friends Laurie and Glenda Hossack of Rothesay and other close friends. Along with his parents, Burton was predeceased by the love of his life and wife of 52 years, Marie (Field) Purcell in 2014; brothers Raymond, Clarence, Edward and Robert and sisters Audrey Paisley and Pauline Linton.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Fundy Funeral Home 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424). By request there will be no visitation. A Celebration of Burton’s Life will be held  at Shadow Lawn Inn, 3180 Rothesay Road on Sunday, June 12th from 2-4 p.m. Donations in Burton’s memory can be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
