Wanda Nelson Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of Wanda Lynn (Munford) Nelson on February 9, 2021 at the Saint John Regional Hospital.  She was born in Saint John, NB on March 16, 1948 to the late Cecil and Mabel (King) Munford.

Wanda went to Saint John Vocational School and graduated in 1966, then worked for MRA until moving to Winnipeg with Everett to whom she married in 1969. Upon returning home they enjoyed a social life through entertaining, going to see plays at the theatre and enjoying family time.  Wanda was a stay-at-home mother until returning to work at Lantic Sugar. Over the years she participated in the Rally of Hope, raised 2 children, and spent time traveling.  After retiring she stayed active by joining a bowling league and playing shuffleboard; where she had lots of good times and laughs.  She was a volunteer at the Saint John Regional Hospital Gift Shop and enjoyed meeting new people.  Wanda enjoyed spending time in nature travelling and camping with her 2nd husband Don.  Later she enjoyed her time reading and doing word puzzles but still loved the company of her friends when they went for coffee.  Wanda went through a lot, surviving 2 husbands and several of her own health conditions which included diabetes and dementia.  She was a very loving mother and grandmother who was taken far too soon and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her son, Robert (Amanda van Malsen); daughter, Marcy Walton; 2 adored grandchildren, Nathaniel Walton and Willem van Malsen; son-in-law Bill Walton, along with several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her first husband, Everett Nelson; her second husband, Donald Waddell; her brother, William (Joan) Munford; sisters, Shirley Banks, Florence Sheaves and Frances (Eugene) Hardy.

Arrangements are entrusted to Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424).  Due to these uncertain times and the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, a private family service will be held with burial to follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Extended family and friends are invited to watch the service online here at https://www.oneroomstreaming.com/view/authorise.php?k=1613158610100531 . For those who wish, donations in Wanda’s memory to the Diabetes Association, Heart & Stroke Foundation of New Brunswick, Alzheimer Foundation, the Canadian Cancer Society or to the charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by her family.
