It is with heavy hearts that the family of Vera Bernice Boyle (nee Rogers) announce her passing on April 30, 2024. Born in Hanford Brook, Saint Martins Parish, NB. on June 23, 1925, and raised in Upham, NB., she was the daughter of the late Walter George Rogers and Lillian Adelia (nee Baxter) Rogers. Vera was predeceased by her husband Douglas T. Boyle, who passed on this same day and date in 1996. Vera and Doug married on Dec. 21, 1946. After which, they lived and raised their family on Golden Grove Road in Saint John.
Her memory will forever be cherished by her two sons, Stephen (Diane) and Terrance (Helen) Boyle, along with her granddaughters Heather Boyle-Richard (Troy), Lisa Vnuk, Linda (Greg) Thom, and Karen Boyle-MacDonald (John). Vera also leaves behind great-grandchildren Alex and Devon Richard, Hannah and Owen MacDonald, Keira and Kristin Vnuk, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, sister-in-law Thelma (nee Boyle) Stewart, and half-brothers and sisters: David Rogers, Ann (nee Rogers) Hyde, Roy Rogers, Lorraine (nee Rogers) Cullen, Glen Rogers, and Gordon Rogers.
Vera’s laugh, kind smile, giving nature, sharp wit and sense of humor endeared her to family, friends and to all who knew her. Her love for her family and friends was the cornerstone of her life and her absence will be deeply felt by all whose lives she touched.
Besides her parents and husband, Vera is predeceased by her sister Elsie (nee Rogers) Searles of Wells, ME., brothers in law Lloyd Boyle of Portland, ME., and Hazen Boyle of Saint John, and half-brothers, Urban, Willard, and Preston Rogers.
Vera’s family would like to thank the wonderful staff of Rocmaura Nursing Home, for their devoted care. You are special people. The family would also like to thank Reverend Greg McMullin of St. Mary and St. Bartholomew’s Church, of whom Vera was a member.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John, NB (506-646-2424). Family and friends will be received at 11:00am on Monday, May 6th at Fundy Funeral Home, with a service to follow at 12:00pm in the chapel. Interment will immediately follow at St. Andrew’s Cemetery, Upper Golden Grove.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Vera’s memory can be made to the Saint John SPCA and the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
