It is with great sadness and the deepest love that we announce the sudden passing of Timothy Mark Hopkins which occurred on the 19th of October 2024 at the Saint John Regional Hospital.
Born to the late Elizabeth (nee Nichol) and Harold Hopkins who resided in Bear River, NS.
Tim received his BA from Mount Allison in 1985 and his law degree from UNB in 1989. He was admitted to the New Brunswick bar in 1990. He had appeared before all levels of courts in New Brunswick, and before the Supreme Court of Canada. He had served as custodian of various law practices for the Law Society of New Brunswick, including the law office of Brenton Kean where he was partner until his passing. Tim had also participated as a volunteer in the Bar Admission Course.
Tim’s community involvement had included membership on the Board of Directors for Hospice of Saint John and on the board of directors for Rothesay Baptist Church and the New Brunswick Sportfishing Association. He was also a member of the Research Ethics Board at the Saint John Regional Hospital.
Tim had many passions in his life. He loved to fish and was happiest when he and his wife took his bass boat out to a river or lake to catch and release a variety of fish. He also spent many early mornings building models with meticulous detail. His greatest passions, however, were his wife whom he cherished and reading his many bibles faithfully every day.
Tim is survived by his wife, Peggy (nee Doyle), his stepson Christopher Magee of Ottawa, his sister Virginia (Ginny) Handspiker (Wayne) of Hammond River, brother John Hopkins of Halifax, sister Elizabeth (Lib) Hopkins of Halifax, as well as many sisters-in-law, brother-in-law, nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Tim is predeceased by his grandparents Annie and James Nichol whom he loved dearly.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, the 23rd of October at the Fundy Funeral Home from 6 to 8p.m. The Service will be held the next day in the Fundy Chapel at 11:00 a.m. Private Interment at a future date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, the local SPCA or the charity of choice. Online condolences can be made on the Fundy Funeral Home website.
