It is with sadness but appreciation for a long life, well lived, that we announce the passing of Marie Thérèse (Comeau) Frontin, who passed away at the Saint John Regional Hospital on October 3, 2024, at the young age of 97, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Meteghan, NS, on November 4, 1926, to the late Wilfred and Emilie (Geddry) Comeau and was the loving wife of 69 years to her husband, Omer Frontin, who passed away in 2016.
Theresa started her life in Clare, NS in a family with five brothers and sisters. After meeting her husband Omer during the war, they moved to Saint John, NB where she was a loving homemaker. They raised 3 children together, watching their family grow and flourish over the years. She was employed at Canadian Tire, until her retirement. Theresa had many varied interests. She loved to square dance and, for a time, her and Omer were part of Les Danceurs Acadiens from Clare. She was a volunteer with the Hearing Handicap Association. She was an avid sewer, quilter and knitter and, in her later years, she knitted hats and mitts for newborn babies at the Saint John Regional Hospital and for less fortunate community members. She loved fishing, picking wildflowers on her walks and she loved music, especially Andrew Lloyd Webber, Andrea Bocelli and ABBA. Theresa would have described herself as a down to earth, Acadian country girl. She was very humble in spirit and always more concerned about others than about herself. She loved to laugh, was loved by many and will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her children, Sheila Sharkey(Brian); Karen Hall(Douglas); and Michael Frontin; her 9 grandchildren, Christine, Adam, Amy, Jeremy, Greg, Jennifer, Terri, Christina and Anthony; her 9 great grandchildren, Deved, Aislin, Liam, Cohen, Theresa, Jessica, Adrianne, Andrea and Thomas; her brother, Lester Comeau(Yvonne); as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Omer, Theresa was predeceased by her infant daughter, Brenda; her daughter-in-law, Rose-Marie Wilson; her brother, Norman Comeau and her 3 sisters, Alfreda Gaudet, Jeanette Burke and Annette Maillet.
Arrangements are entrusted to Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (506-646-2424) where visitation will take place on Friday, October 11, 2024, from 2-4 & 6-8pm. A funeral mass will be held on Saturday at 11am at St. Alphonse’s Catholic Church, in Hampton. Interment to take place in Meteghan, NS at a later date. For those who wish, memorial donations can be made in her memory to Coverdale Centre for Women or to the charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by her family.
