We are saddened by the passing of our dear brother, uncle, great uncle, cousin, nephew and friend on March 4, 2025, in Edmonton, Alberta. Stephen was born in the city of Saint John on January 6, 1953, the third child of the late Harold and Doris (Trenholm) Murray.
Stephen was a real animal lover, cats, dogs, owls, you name it and he was in contact with it. After many years of therapy and special education he graduated in 1970 and went immediately to work as a mail carrier at the Saint John Dry Dock until the fall of 1977. Intrigued by the bright lights and bustling employment of Albert he left unexpectedly in October of 1977 for work in Edmonton Alberta. He was employed by Georgia Pacific Building Products and had worked there continuously until his retirement in 2013. Stephen was a great brother who lived and loved his world in the western part of Canada. Stephen had one philosophy in life and that was “I Did it My Way”, a theme represented by the 1968 song written by Paul Anka and made famous by Frank Sinatra.
With only one surviving member of his family, Norman, he is predeceased by parents Doris and Harold, brother David, sister Gail (Donnahee) and sister-in-law Darlene (Norman). He is survived by several cousins, brother-in-law Mike (Gail) Donnahee, three nieces Christa (Larry) Parent, Sarah Donnahee, Janelle Landry, his only nephew, Scott Murray (Shelley) along with great nephews Marckus Parent and Dax Murray, as well as great nieces Marcie Parent and Violet Landry.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John, NB E2J 2G3 (506-646-2424). Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 22, 2025, from 1 – 3 PM with memorial service at 3 PM. Interment will take place at a later date in Fernwood Cemetery, Port Elgin, NB. In lieu of flowers, donations to North Side Assembly would be appreciated by the family. Online condolences are available at: www.fundyfuneralhome.com
