It is with very heavy hearts that the family of Scott Robert Burns announce his passing at his home in Toronto, Ontario on Nov 28th, 2023. Born in Saint John, New Brunswick on December 8th, 1969, Scott was the only son of Elizabeth (Betty) Ouellet and 1st born son of the late Robert (Butch) Burns. Scott is survived by his loving Mother, Betty and her partner Hugh McGill of Saint John, big sister Cindy McKinley of Rothesay and little sister Holly Burns of Rothesay. His daughter Emily Watson of Alberta, half siblings Timothy and Katrina Burns, and Heather Horgan of British Columbia. Also his dog Mocha, who shares his birthday with his daughter, which warmed his heart immensely. His cherished nieces and nephews, several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Scott was an avid fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Toronto Raptors. He also loved fast cars and motorcycles. Scott had faced many struggles throughout his life but his family was so proud of the changes he had made recently in his life. He would have been graduating on December 1st, 2023 from the Street Health Apprenticeship Program. It is a brand new program that he worked very hard to be accepted for and while there were hundreds that applied, he was 1 of the 50 accepted into the program. We, as a family, are so grateful for the community that surrounded him. He loved his community and would help out anywhere he could, so much so that he was considered an Ambassador for the people.
Scott was predeceased by his father, Robert (Butch) William Burns, his maternal grandparents, Rene & Celine Ouellet, paternal grandparents, William & Grace Burns. His niece Lauren McKinley, uncles Sonny, Bill & Jacques, aunts Diane and Joan, cousins Manon, Jasmine and Michelle.
Scotts family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all of the people who have offered a word of encouragement or a hug over the years. A big East coast thank you to Mary of British Columbia, who he loved dearly and to Jessica of Toronto who guided and supported him greatly in his recovery.
Arrangements entrusted to Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (506)-646-2424.
Celebration of Life will be held on December 13th, 2023 at 6:30pm at the Branch 69 Legion. A time for us all to get together to share memories and stories of Scott.
If Christmas is hard,
If you've lost someone dear.
Just look in your heart,
And you"ll know they"re still there.
The star in the sky,
The light falling snow.
The robin outside,
It seems like they know.
If this is a time,
When you're struggling through.
Just do what you can,
For what matters, is you.
There's no need to be merry,
There's no need to be bright.
Just do what you can,
It will be alright.
