Ronald Colwell Obituary

COLWELL, RONALD - It is with deep sadness that the family of Ronald Edward Colwell announce his passing on August 17, 2023 at the Loch Lomond Villa surrounded by his family.  He was born in Saint John on December 19, 1942, to the late Clarence and Dorothy (Kern) and was the loving husband of Lois (Smith) Beman-Colwell.

Ron graduated from Vocational School in 1963, where over the years he interviewed Prime Minister John Diefenbaker for the School “Challenger”, became Editor of the School Newspaper,  and participated in a number of school clubs and activities over the years.  After graduation he obtained many varied positions through Advertising and Sales jobs.  He always liked to remain very active and was a member of the Key Club with Kiwanis where he became Lt. Governor for Eastern Canada and the USA; he was part of the Queen Scouts.  He liked government and always followed along, and eventually became the President of the Young Progressive Conservatives.  Ron was a very faithful person.  As he always was active in everything he set his mind to, he became a very active member of the St. James Anglican Church which became Christ the King.  Ron was a very family-oriented man and loved spending time with his family, especially after the kids grew up and moved away.  Their visits home meant more to him than anything.  He will be deeply missed by all the many friends he met along the way and the family he cherished.

Along with his wife, Lois, he is survived by his sons: Paul and Glenn (Shelly), both of B.C.; four beloved grandchildren: Erik, Emma, Cale and Tatum; his sister Janet Williston; his step-son Michael Beman (Lisa); as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.  In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his siblings: Douglas, June, Barbara and Beatrice.

Arrangements are entrusted to Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424).  In keeping with Ron’s wishes, no services will be held.  A private family interment will take place in Greenwood Cemetery where he will join his parents.   For those who wish, memorial donations in his memory to Christ the King Church, Parkinson Society Maritime Region, or to the charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by his family.  To sign the guestbook or place an online condolence, please visit www.fundyfuneralhome.com
