Robert Sylvester Slattery

Robert Sylvester Slattery of Saint John passed away peacefully at the Saint John Regional Hospital after a period of failing health. He was a loving and devoted husband for 65 years to Thelma (Acker) Slattery. Born in Boston, MA on February 7, 1931 he was the son of the late Joseph and Sadie (Gillis) Slattery. Bob was a Crane Operator and worked for the Saint John Dry Docks retiring in 1996. Member of the Knights of Columbus Father Eugene O’Leary Council #6595; the Adanac Club and the Hampton Golf Club. Bob was very active and enjoyed sports and the outdoors. He was a happy go lucky guy with a funny sense of humour and enjoyed teasing. Along with his loving wife Thelma, Bob is survived by his daughter Barbara Squirrel (Donald) of Weston, ON; sister Marilyn Parsons (Frank) of Hampton; brother Peter Slattery of Saint John; sister-in-law Barb Slattery of Peticodiac; cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Along with his parents, Bob was predeceased by brothers Edward, Stanley and James and sisters-in-law Gloria and Shirley.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424) By request there will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held from the Fundy Funeral Home Chapel on Friday March 29th, 2019 at 2:00p.m; interment to take place at St. Joseph’s Cemetery followed by a reception at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers donations in Bob’s memory can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, New Brunswick Heart and Stroke Foundation or to the Canadian Cancer Society.
