Robert James McCready

It is with heavy hearts the family of Robert “Rob” James McCready, loving husband of Linda (Fletcher) McCready, announces his passing on Tuesday May 8, 2018 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born 1945 in Shannon, NB, he was the son of the late Robert B. and Kathleen (Jones) McCready. Rob graduated from Belleisle Regional High School and a year later began work with Niagara Finance as a loans officer and later Manager. In 1972 he moved to Saint John and soon began work with Bayview International as a Truck Salesman. Over the years he always gave his best, working with energy and integrity gaining sales as well as many good friends in the industry.

The greatest love of his life was his family, his wife of 50 years, Linda; his children and their spouses, Shane and Maura, Jennifer and Mark and his beloved grandchildren William, Lane and Ireland. He is also survived by his brothers Steven, Earl (Reta) and Jeffrey (Brad); sisters Judy (Jimmy) Atkinson and Phyllis (Ernie) Buist as well as several nieces and nephews.

His other love was our camp on Grand Lake where we all enjoyed many joyful family gatherings and all were welcome. Rob was an avid reader and gamer on PlayStation especially golf. He loved fishing and hunting and enjoyed many trips with family and friends in these pursuits. He was known to enjoy lively, sometimes heated political debates but never had a desire to run for office; an armchair advisor and critic only.

Although gone from us much too soon, I know he was thankful for his family and the blessings we had enjoyed in our life together. He will be sadly missed but remembered by many and what more can we ask of our life but that.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424). A private service for family and close friends will be held at a later date. Donations in his memory may be made to Forest Hills Baptist Church.
