Malcolm Ian Cosman passed away at the Saint John Regional Hospital on January 31st, 2022. Born in Annapolis Valley, Nova Scotia in April 1957, he was the son of the late Malcolm and Hester Cosman. He is survived by his wife Debbie Cosman (O’Keeffe); sons Malcolm (Laura), Brent, and Jason (Marta); grandchildren Hailey, Emma, Zoe, Ben, Audrey and Clara; mother-in-law Elsie O’Keeffe; sisters Valerie Samson (Gerry), Brenda Burnside (Steve), Sandy Olejnik (Bob), Mary Fitzgerald (Len), Michelle LeBlanc (Jamie) and Judy Arseneau (Ron); many nieces and nephews. Malcolm was a Longshoremen at the ILA Local 273. He did everything from unloading sacks of potatoes, to driving tanks/Lamborghinis and operating the big cranes on the waterfront. Malcolm had a reputation for playing and receiving practical jokes with his local Longshoremen.
Malcolm was predeceased by his father-in-law Arnold O’Keeffe, brothers David O’Keeffe and Donnie O’Keeffe, and nephew Mark Arseneau.
He will always be remembered as a proud husband, son, son-in-law, brother, father, puppa, uncle, a loyal friend, and leader of the fantastic four. He enjoyed spending time helping others no matter how big or small.
Malcolm could always be found doing anything that needed to be done at the house or for his extended family. Never one to back down from a challenge; he always worked until the task was completed. Malcolm had a sense of humour second to none often laughing harder at his jokes than others did. He loved to proudly bestow bits of wisdom on his boys and grandchidren that they will keep with them forever.
Thank you to the staff at 4C North, Respiratory Therapy and palliative care at the Saint John Regional hospital; they went above and beyond in caring for Malcolm.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Malcolm’s memory may be made to Bobby’s Hospice or another charity of the donor's choice.
Arrangements are under the direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John (646-2424).
