June Marie Bustin

August 2, 1937 ~ September 26, 2022 (age 85) 85 Years Old

Obituary

It is with profound sadness that the family of June M. Bustin, beloved wife of the late Allen W. Bustin, wish to announce her passing, which occurred on September 26, 2022, at the Loch Lomond Village. Born in Saint John, August 2, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Donald and Annie (Hicks) Bustin.

June will be remembered for how she embraced everyone with love, support, and compassion. She was employed for over 36 years as the secretary at St. Mark's United Church. Her talents also stretched into her long-time roles as secretary for the Saint John United Church Presbytery and as secretary of Home Mission Council.

She was a member of Silver Falls United Church which was really the core of her spiritual life.  She sang in the choir for more than sixty years, a journey that began as a young girl.  As a young adult, she took some time away to teach Sunday School and later came back to the choir.  Music was her joy. She remembered the words to everything, from hymns to camp songs. She could often be found singing in the dining room at the Village, and before you knew it she would have everyone singing along with her.

She was a Canadian Girl in Training (CGIT) growing up and was later instrumental as a CGIT leader for the balance of her adult life at Silver Falls. She was a mother to so many through her leadership of CGIT and Explorers and was a great resource for the leaders of the younger Messenger girls group.

June, or Junie as so many people called her, had some things that she loved just for herself and her family.  Baking is the first one that comes to mind, she loved to bake and, oh could she bake.  Pies, yes pies.  If you knew her then your mouth is already watering just thinking about her pies.  Flowers, flowers, and more flowers.  Complete strangers, out on a leisurely drive would stop by the house and admire her gardens. Bird watching was another love. She always had the binoculars at the ready for the next thrilling bird sighting. And, finally, snowmen.  She collected snowmen or more accurately, her family gave her snowmen for every occasion.  There were more than 400 snowmen and every Christmas when she was setting them up around the house she would talk about where they came from.

She will be forever missed by her children; Diane Kerns (Dan), Susan Hargrove (Bob) and Paul Bustin (Karen), her grandchildren; Sean Bustin, Cassie Lodge (Robert), Dawn Wilkins (Cory), Katie McGovern, Amy Dunn (Steve), Ryan Bustin, Erin McGrath (Patrick), Julia Bustin, Wilson Galbraith, and Nicola Bustin. Her 17 precious great-grandchildren, her siblings; Creighton Bustin, Donna Gaudet and Sharon Foster, and her many cherished nieces, and nephews.

Besides her husband Allen, and her parents Donald and Annie, she was predeceased by her siblings Myrna Chittick, Valerie Langille and Joan Donald.
