Joseph Robichaud Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Joseph Roderique “Dick” Robichaud announce his passing on February 13, 2022 at Ridgewood Veteran’s Wing. Born in Tracadie, NB on October 22, 1939, he was the son of the late Antoine and Emelda Robichaud.

He is survived by his daughters Kimberley (partner Mike) and Bonita; son Michael (Kim); grandchildren Cory Moore, Kayla Robichaud and Andrew Robichaud; sisters Antonia Finnigan (On), Edna Doucet (Eric) of Saint John, Noella (Leo Paul) of Saint John, Denise Noel of Bathurst and several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife Margaret Rose (Donovan) Robichaud, brothers Harvey formerly of PEI, Patrick formerly of Saint John and Jack Benny formerly of Saint John; sisters Barb formerly of Tracadie, Alvetta Keary (Charlie) formerly of Saint John, and brother-in-law Jean Paul formerly of Bathurst.

Dick joined the military in 1959 where he made lifelong friends and his favorite times were going out on one adventure after another with his buddies.

It was nothing for Dick to drop by his sisters’ homes unannounced, day or night, with his friends to feast on whatever they would cook up. He was always the life of the party, up to no good with his antics and joking, but always in good fun. He had the ability to make people laugh with his stories and always had a smile on his face. Laughter meant the world to him, and the world was his audience.

Dick was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying all aspects of each season. In his later years, he found great enjoyment walking in the woods with his dogs and lots of driving around the countryside. He was known to help strangers when he saw they were struggling as he very much knew what it was like to live through hard times.

Special thanks to the staff of Ridgewood who became his second family; their loving, caring ways made his life much better.

Visitation will be held at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road on Friday February 18, 2022 from 1-4pm. Due to regulations placed on indoor gatherings, anyone attending must provide proof of vaccination, along with government issued ID. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the SPCA Animal Rescue or the charity of one’s choice.

2 Timothy 1:7

“For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self control.”

Loving God, please grant me peace of mind and calm my troubled heart, my soul is like a turbulent sea. I can’t seem to find my balance, so I stumble and worry constantly. Give me the strength and clarity of mind to find my purpose and walk the path you’ve laid out for me.
