It is with incredible sadness, the family of James “Jimmy” Basil Rector announces his unexpected passing at his home on September 15, 2020. He was born in Saint John on January 8, 1964 and was raised in Golden Grove.
Jimmy was a graduate of Simonds High School and later became a licensed marine electrician through the Saint John Shipbuilding & Dry Dock Ltd. He was a member of IBEW 502. When the Dry Dock closed, Jimmy worked at various locations including in Alberta. Jimmy loved movies, 4-wheeling, snowmobiling and music.
In addition to his parents, Allan and Pauline (Long) Rector, he is survived by his son, Brandon O'Neill; siblings, Jackie Hamilton and Kim (Huguette), both of Saint John; Cindy Ratcliffe of Alberta; along with several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Murray and nephew Jared Rector.
Arrangements are entrusted to Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424). Due to COVID restrictions, there will be no visitation with a private funeral service being held. For those who wish, memorial donations in his memory to the Cardiac Rehab Unit of the Saint John Regional Hospital or the Leslie Bruce Foundation would be appreciated by his family.
