Harrison Peters Obituary

With unimaginable sadness, the family of Harrison Paul Kirby Peters announces his tragic passing on September 3, 2025. Born in Saint John, NB, he was the beloved son of Paul and Tammy (O’Ree) Peters.

Harrison was exceptionally brilliant and loved to learn. He earned a master’s degree in pure mathematics from the University of New Brunswick in Fredericton, completed his certification as an actuary, and worked at Irving Oil in risk management analysis. During his university days, he often took on more than a full course load simply because he wanted to know more and always had an online class on the go too. He also enjoyed sharing his knowledge with others, tutoring peers in various subjects as well as teaching English as a Second Language at UNB.

Harrison was an avid chess player and had a lifelong fascination with science, space, the universe, and nature. He had a sharp mind for money and treated investing as a hobby, and his discipline and insight in the subject was one to be admired. Harrison was also uninterested in regular tv shows and books, preferring documentaries and educational materials. He’d often say that television should be educational, and if it wasn’t teaching you something, it wasn’t worth watching.

Outside of work and study, Harrison loved playing golf. He was also a proud Freemason. At home, he showed his softer side with Eddie, the family dog. Though he wouldn’t admit it at first, Eddie quickly became his beloved companion. Many evenings ended with Harrison still in his suit from work, stretched out on the floor, playing with the dog.

Harrison had a big heart and loved his family deeply. He also cherished his close friends, Kyle O’Neill, James Kelly, and Christopher Parent, who were like brothers to him, and Dennis Boyle and Dave MacLennan who were such important mentors in his life.

He is survived by his parents: Paul and Tammy Peters; sister: Madison Claire Peters; grandfather: Vincent O’Ree; godfather: Jamie Foster; uncles: John O’Ree and Aaron Peters; aunts: Stephanie O’Ree-Paixao (Richard), Kimberly Leek (Bill), and Rebecca Peters; and cousins: Paula Kenmuir (Albert), Adam Naves (Gracy), Julia Okocha (Victor), William Leek (Bethany), Bryanna Leek (Ryan), Maria Leek, Cooper Paixao, Carter Paixao, Mateo Green, Talum Naves, Reign Okocha, Zion Okocha, Adonis Leek, Anthony Peters (Marjorie) and Molle Peters-Thompson.

He was predeceased by his grandparents, Doreen Peters, Melvyn Peters, and Judy O’Ree, as well as his aunt, Rolanda Naves.

The world seems dimmer without Harrison’s larger-than-life personality. His family and friends will hold tightly to the love and knowledge he so freely shared.
