Gordon Maxwell Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Gordon Harry Maxwell on July 20, 2024, at home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Sackville, NB, on March 24, 1952, to the late Harry and Mary (Etter) Maxwell and was the loving husband of 48 years to wife Dianne (Cameron) Maxwell. In addition to his wife, Dianne; he is survived by his daughter Gillian Maxwell and son-in-law Daniel Hagerman; as well as several cousins and close friends.

Gordie retired from a long career at Saint John Energy as a Metering Supervisor. He was a funny man who had a very dry sense of humor, always cracking jokes. He was always very active outside, hunting, boating on the “Serendipity”, jet skiing, and riding his motorcycle and ATV. He was a pitcher for the Saint John Royals, as well as Coach for Central Minor Hockey, both sports that he loved to play. Gordie was very family oriented and a caring father. Gordie was a good man who lived life fully and loved those close to him. He was taken far too soon but his memory will be cherished always.

His family would like to extend deep and heartfelt thanks to the Extra Mural Program, Dr. Amelia Barry and Dr. Kristina Cameron for their care. Also, to his close family friend, Dr. Richard Paxton, thank you for all your help and kindness over the years.

Arrangements are entrusted to Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (506-646-2424) where visitation will be held on Wednesday from 2-4 & 6-8pm.  For those who wish, donations in Gordie’s memory to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of New Brunswick or the ALS Society of Canada would be appreciated by his family.
