After a brave and courageous battle with cancer, Gilles Raoul LeBlanc passed away on July 28, 2020 at the Saint John Regional Hospital.  He was born in Moncton, NB on March 6, 1965 to Jeannette (Girouard) and the late Gerald LeBlanc. 

Gilles was a very educated man who worked hard all of his life, working in many applied fields.  His most recent employment was at The Sprott School of Business at Carleton University in Ottawa where he was the External Relations Officer, a profession he was very proud of.  He was a quiet and soft-spoken man who was very gentle and kind hearted.  He was an avid traveller and his professions allowed him to travel the world.  Once he received his diagnosis, he took pride in living for the moment and being spontaneous.  He and his sister took an Alaskan cruise last year, and he recently purchased a Corvette and felt blessed that he got to drive it with the top down before he became too sick to drive.  He was very graceful about his illness and never let it get him down.  The only issue he had with it was that he wasn’t going to get to spend more time with Evan, his son who was his absolute pride and joy.  He loved every moment that he got to spend with him and watch him grow.  He was a very nice man who will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. 

In addition to his mother, Jeannette, he is survived by his son, Evan; his sister, Linda (Joe) McMurray; niece, Mya and nephew, Marcus, as well as many cousins and friends.  He was predeceased by his father, Gerald.  

Arrangements are entrusted to Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424).  In keeping with Gilles’ wishes, no visitation will take place.  A funeral liturgy will be held on Thursday, August 6, 2020 at 12pm from the Fundy Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.  Anyone unable to make the funeral service is invited to watch it live at the address above.  For those who wish, donations in his memory can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
