With deep sadness the family of George Malcom Thomas announces his passing on Thursday August 28, 2025, at the St Joseph's Hospital.
Born in Saint John, NB on April 15, 1935. He was the son of the late George and Eva Maude(Storm) Thomas.
George is survived by his brother Robert(Bonnie) Baird; nephews: George (Eulaine) Grass, John (Rosane) Grass, Jim (Lynn) Grass, Robert (Nora) Ryan, Randy (Vickey) Ryan. Nieces : Barb (Terry) Kneeland, Mary (James) Duguay, Pauline (Norbert) Vautour, Marie (Les) Clifford, Marianne Griffin. Great Niece Angela (Robb) Donovan whom he had a very special relationship with as he took on a grandfather role in her life. Godson and great nephew Malcolm (Kelly) Grass. As well as several other great nephews and nieces.
Besides his parents he was predeceased by brothers : Fred and Raymond Richard. Sisters: Dot Grass, Lillian Ryan and Kay Griffin. Nephews: Gordon Ryan, David Ryan, Michael Ryan and Niece Dianna Ryan. As well as special feline companion Jake.
George will also be sadly missed by close friends Paul (Arlene) McQuinn, Dale (Bob) Burnett, Kenny (Kelly) Hartley and Richard (Theresa) Hartley. Also several canine and feline friends.
George had many careers throughout his life; including working in the woods, farm hand and handy man. He worked as a handy man for Glen and Alice Jardine for over 30 years and became close friends with them both.
George loved hockey, being an avid Toronto Maple Leafs fan and a Saint John Seadogs fan. He also had a passion for classic cars and enjoyed helping friend Kenny build stock cars.
George was a social butterfly and made friends wherever he walked.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road. Saint John, NB E2J 2G3; (506)646-2424. Visitation for George will be Friday, September 5,2025, from 10:00am - 12:00pm at Fundy Funeral Home. Directly following visiting, a Memorial Service will take place in the Fundy Funeral Home Chapel followed by a time of gathering and refreshments. A private family and close friends burial will take place at Fernhill Cemetery. Donations in George's memory can be made to the Saint John SPCA or the charity of your choice.
