With broken hearts we said our final goodbyes to our beloved Nickolaj, lovingly known to many as Nick. He passed peacefully at 5:45 pm, July 16, 2024, lovingly surrounded by his love, Rebecca and siblings at Saint John Regional Hospital. Nickolaj was born on September 17, 1982 to Twila and Gary Vincent. He is predeceased by his father, Gary William Vincent and his favourite cousin, Nickolas Alexander Hepburn.
Nickolaj left behind the love of his life, Rebecca Rideout, children Avery, Wesley, Charlie and Munroe. He also left behind his mother Twila (Rick), stepmom Kathleen, sisters Robin (Tony), Colleen (Alex) and Cathleen, brother Danny (Kim), Aunts, Uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends to numerous to list.
Nickolaj was a creative and passionate dreamer who captured the attention and admiration of everyone he met. He dedicated so much of his time being an advocate for the youth in Saint John and surrounding areas. A builder and Godfather of the local skateboarding culture in Canada, Nick had his own skate shop in uptown Saint John and was influential in the creation, funding and building of the skatepark that is still here for people to use today. He was the first person to stand up for, support and believe in anyone who had the pleasure of meeting him. He was his Father’s Son beyond anyone’s imagination and a loving Brother to everyone he ever met in his life. He was always there with wisdom and guidance, and you knew he would show up for you no matter what.
In the words of Avery, which would be echoed by all who knew him, “he was always there for me if I needed him, and he had such an impact on EVERYONE he knew. I loved this man like a father, because he was one. He was mine. I will always appreciate the imprint you left on my life, and the lessons you taught me. I love you and miss you, Nick, so very much. You really were a KING.” The world will never be the same without him.
