Denis Gauthier

It is with great sadness that the Gauthier family announce the passing of Denis Gauthier, which occurred peacefully on Monday October 21st at the Dr. George-L.-Dumont University Hospital Center, after his courageous battle with cancer (Mesothelioma). He was surrounded by his loving family. Born in St. Quentin, NB on September 17th, 1956, he was the son of Jeannine Gauthier (nee Roy) and the late Jean David Gauthier.

Denis was a graduate of Saint John Vocational School in 1975, where he learned his trade (welding/steel fabrication) and went on to working 39 years with Bourque Industrial as shop superintendent. Denis’s passion was hockey where he served the Saint John community as a coach in the Saint John Youth minor hockey association for 25 years. During the past 10 years, Denis and Yvonne have formed amazing friendships with their time spent in Florida where he finally explored a lifelong dream to learn to play the guitar. Denis spent countless hours strumming to old country favorites and even working up the courage to perform small concerts at their community park. Denis leaves a legacy of hard work and dedication and will be remembered as a kind and gentle man that will be greatly missed by all that knew him.

Denis is survived by his loving wife, Yvonne Gauthier (Arsenault) of 45 years; his mother Jeannine Gauthier (nee Roy); sons Eric (Cindy) of Quispamsis, NB, Gilles (Michelle McAllister) of Rothesay, NB, and daughter Natalie (Yany Jones) of Moncton, NB; and his little buddy Rocco; 6 grandchildren, Ben, Lauren, Jacob, Jayme, Aurelie and Clement; siblings Christian (Jeannine), Helen (Carl), Jean-Yves (Linda), Martine (Pierre), Danielle; along with several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend a special thank you for the wonderful staff at the Dr. George-L.-Dumont University Hospital Center for their professionalism, care and compassion.

Resting at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (506-646-2424), on Sunday, October 27, 2024, between the hours of 2:00 – 4:00p.m. and 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from Holy Spirit Parish, St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church on Monday, October 28, 2024, at 12:30p.m. Interment will be held privately in St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
