Debra Lyon Obituary

                     Debra Anne Lyon

                      March 27, 1963 - August 30, 2022

                     “Forever Young”

It is with great sadness and broken hearts, that the family of Debra “Debbie” Anne (Sambles) Lyon, announce her untimely passing, which occurred surrounded by her loved ones, on August 30th, 2022 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. She was the youngest child of the late Donald and Norma (Thorne) Sambles.

Debbie grew up in the Village of Westfield, NB, where she attended Westfield Elementary School then River Valley Jr. High and later graduated from Millidgeville North High School. She was employed by K-Mart West for years and during this time, she met and married the love of her life Don (Stan) Lyon. They brought two sons into the world which was when Deb became a stay at home Mother, caring for her boys. After her boys were raised she went on to become a Caregiver. When her grandchildren arrived, she happily and lovingly cared for them as their proud Nanny. Family always came first for Deb.

It would be almost impossible to determine Deb’s greatest purpose in life. She was a loving, doting wife to her husband Don. She was a dedicated and devoted Mother to her sons Kirk and Jake. She was a proud and adoring Nanny to her Grandbabies Aubrey, Blake and Carly. Debbie was a bright light and never-ending source of joy and happiness in our family, and a cherished friend to so many who were fortunate enough to have her in their lives.

To say that Heaven has gained an Angel is an understatement. Heaven has gained a generous soul, a nurturer, a prankster, a protector and an incredible cook.

Debbie’s legacy is one of love, loyalty, family and friendship. Touching hearts and creating boisterous laughter and unforgettable memories along the way.

When Debbie laughed - “you” laughed. It was impossible not to.

Our grief for losing Debbie will never end. As a family, we will only learn how to cope without her.

Debbie is survived by her loving husband Donald. Her sons; Kirk (Sarah) Lyon and Jake (Kate) Lyon, all of Welsford, NB. Her adoring Grandchildren; Aubrey, Blake and Carly. Sisters; Linda (Russell) Newman and Susan Skeldon. Twin brother; Richard (Crystal Dawn) Sambles. Mother - in - law, Joan Lyon. Sister -in - law; Dianne (Jim) Nutter. Nieces and Nephews; Tricia (Tim), Toby (Denise), Elizabeth, JR (Jamie), Jaime (Dan). Several Great Nieces and Nephews, Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and many close friends.

Debbie was pre-deceased by her parents; Donald and Norma Sambles, brother David Sambles, father - in - law; G. Ralph Lyon and brother - in - law; Gordon Skeldon.

Arrangements are entrusted to Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John, NB; with visitation on Tuesday September 6th, from 2-8 p.m. A celebration of Debbie’s life will take place at Fundy Funeral Home on Wednesday September 7th at 11am. Interment to follow at the Welsford Valley Cemetery. Donations can be to the Canadian Cancer Society, Saint John SPCA, or the charity of the donor’s choice.

The family wishes to express their sincere thanks to Dr. M. Burnell, all of the nurses in the Chemo Room, the Saint John Extramural program; specifically her nurse Ronda Mattson, and the staff of 3CN, for their kindness and compassion shown to Debbie throughout her illness.
