Darlene met the love of her life and beloved husband, Mark Smith,of 45 years. Darlene was known for her strong will, unwavering determination, and love and support for her family. Along with her husband, she was a  Christian who believed in the passage: James 1:27 - Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world. Darlene was always devoted to ensuring that those in need, especially at Christmas, were supplied with necessities and comfort items to help those unfortunate know that they are loved and not alone.

Darlene worked as a tax accountant for more than 35 years. Beginning with H&R Block and moving to Bayview Credit Union, she eventually went on to owning and operating her own business “Taxes with Darlene.”  She had a portfolio of over 400 clients that depended on her for their tax filings. Darlene was also a successful self taught crafter who would spend hundreds of hours creating crafts that she would give as gifts or sell at various craft fairs throughout the city.  Darlene was a very proud mother, nanny, daughter, and sister.
