Allen Steeves of Saint John, NB, formerly of Plaster Rock, died peacefully on August 24, 2025, at Loch Lomond Villa with his loving wife, Shirley, by his side.
Allen was born in Plaster Rock, NB in 1948 and he was happiest when he was outdoors. He served for one term in the military after high school and he was very proud of that. Eventually, nature called him and he became a woodsman. His hard work was recognized when he was awarded the Maritime Woodlot Owner of the Year for NB and Woodlot Manager of the Year for NB, both in 1992.
Allen loved hunting and fishing, playing guitar and singing with his wife. He especially loved going to the local music jams. He was a very kind, generous and compassionate man who was an avid reader and he loved to laugh!
He was predeceased by his parents, Robert and Phyllis (Leaman) Steeves, his niece Carla Steeves, cousin Peter Lewis, and his Aunt Rose Steeves. Left behind to grieve are his loving wife, Shirley (Slauenwhite) and her family, his sister, Louise (Donny) McLean, and two nephews, Bruce McLean (Pam), Peter McLean (Annette), niece Beverly Kierstead (Stephen) along with many great nieces and nephews, and his best friends Herman and Collins Hudnut.
The family would like to express their deep appreciation for the Staff at Birch House at Loch Lomond Villa. The staff were very kind, caring and attentive to Allen.
As per Allen’s wishes, there will be no visitation. Burial will take place at 11:00 am on Thursday, August 28, 2025, at Linton Corner Cemetery. Donations in Allen’s memory may be made to The Heart & Stroke Foundation or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
