Manuel Salvador

It is with great sadness the family of Manuel Chaveiro Salvador announces his death on Wednesday October 11, 2017 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Manuel was born July 2, 1936 in Ervidel, Portugal; the son of the late Joao and Inacia (Chaveiro) Salvador. In addition to his wife of 54 years, Maria Adelia (nee Luis), he is survived by his children Fatima (John MacKinnon) of Alberta; Rui (Buffy Abric) of Saint John and Tanya (Chris Oliver) of Grand Bay-Westfield; grandchildren Shane Logan, Matthew Wilcox, Cristina Miller, Sofia Oliver and Adam Oliver; great-granddaughter Scarlett Bennett-Logan. Manuel is also survived by his sisters Maria Antonia  Ramos of Lisbon, Portugal and Maria Jose DaMina of Paris, France and his brother Eugenio of Santa Vitoria, Portugal; several nieces, nephews and friends. Manuel was in the Portuguese air force in the 60’s; worked at the Lisbon Shipyard and moved to Canada in 1976 to work at the Saint John Shipyard until retirement. Some of his favourite times were spent fishing, gardening, watching soccer, the Toronto Blue Jays and playing dominoes.

Arrangements are under the direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road. A Memorial Service will be held at Fundy Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday October 14, 2017 at 2 p.m. The family will receive visitors from 1 p.m. until service time.  In lieu of flowers all donations to the Alzheimer Society would be appreciated.
